Among their many activities, the Techbridge girls at John Swett wrote and produced an educational video on the phases of the moon, launched a campaign to educate the community about the harmful effects of motor oil and lawn fertilizer runoff seeping into San Francisco Bay, and studied
the effect of ultraviolet light on plant growth.
Its purpose is to help people to effectively protect themselves from UV light, which causes sunburns, eye damage such as cataracts, skin aging, and skin cancer (see the section health

The other photographs on view, of glaciers in Iceland taken from 2001 to 2008, illustrate
the effects of ultraviolet light on this landscape over time: the icebergs appear dramatically diminished in size in the later photographs.
