does exactly that; it is Google's ambitious addition to online education as well to the Learning
Management System industry, and it aims to make
classrooms all over the world not only paperless, but also more
effective.
And realistically there's over 30 years of really good research that's been conducted into what
effective teachers
do and in particular what
classroom management practices are
effective as well.
I guess some of that early work
done by Marzano shows that we can actually have academic achievement scores increase by 20 percentile points and engagement scores go up by 23 percentile points, higher in
classrooms where
effective management techniques are being employed.

effective approach to
classroom management did not develop from her extensive teaching experience, however, but from her hands - on experience as a parent!
Teachers say: «We need help with
classroom management: discipline problems,
effective classroom rules, procedures, handling students who don't
do the homework, who call out, curse, come in late, fight, throw things, and attack us.»
These practices include using
effective classroom management procedures; promoting student engagement and motivation; assessing student readiness; responding to learning styles; grouping students for instruction; and teaching to the student's zone of proximal development (the distance between what a learner can demonstrate without assistance and what the learner can
do with assistance)(Allan & Tomlinson, 2000; Ellis & Worthington, 1994; Vygotsky, 1978).
Functional assessment, data - based problem - solving, and strategic and intensive intervention processes — both in the academic or social - emotional - behavioral areas — when students
do not respond to
effective classroom instruction or
effective classroom management, respectively.
When the inner «Yes» is a quest for more
effective classroom management, saying «No» is easy to
do.
No instructional strategy can compensate for a teacher who lacks proficiency in his content area, is unclear about learning goals, plans an unfocused activity, or
does not possess the leadership and
management skills to orchestrate
effective classroom functioning.
Such remedies could consist of one or more of the following: (1) providing clear definitions and examples of threatening actions for which students may be suspended (including specifying the conduct that
does not warrant a suspension); (2) requiring the administrator (s) to make specific findings prior to imposing the sanction of suspension, e.g., determining that the behavior in question falls within the scope of the prohibited conduct, and / or determining that other means of addressing student behavior are not feasible or repeatedly failed to bring about appropriate conduct; (3) providing teachers and administrators with training on how to administer the policy fairly and equitably; and / or (4) providing teachers with training in
classroom management techniques and
effective behavioral interventions that give them appropriate and culturally responsive tools to interpret and address the underlying behaviors.
