Flamboyan Foundation's inaugural National Family Engagement Collaborative Fellowship participants have been working in five jurisdictions across the country to identify the evolving barriers that
hinder effective family engagement practices.
In addition to research - based information
on effective family engagement practices, we wanted to hear directly from culturally and linguistically diverse parents and other family members about what they need to be meaningfully involved in their child's education.
Through Linkages, communities plan effective transitions into elementary school for children and their families,
implement effective family engagement practices, help educators and early childhood providers link their practices more explicitly, and over time working towards state policy that supports these efforts.
On May 5, 2016, the U.S. Departments of Education (ED) and Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a policy statement on the implementation
of effective family engagement practices from the early years to the early grades.
Partner schools will receive intensive support in the form of training, resources, and coaching to improve family engagement as well as up to $ 30,000 to fund the implementation of
effective family engagement practices.
HR 5 fails in several other areas including student expectations, appropriate disaggregation of data, equitable distribution of Title I funds, additional supports for EL programs and services, and
effective family engagement practices, among others.
