and I'm guessing it applies to you: if you work your ass off, put in tons of time, energy, creativity, even money on writing and promotion, and yet your work doesn't get the kind of rewards you expect (let's say financial for simplicity's sake), either because that's life or because your publisher doesn't recognize the effort or your publisher drops the ball (it happens)...
