According to the State Board of Elections, the only person (other than this reporter) to review Teachout's petitions is Josh Ehrlich, a longtime Democratic
election lawyer currently working for the State Senate and a smattering of private clients.
Possible candidates at the time included Ronald Castorina Jr., a Republican commissioner for the City Board of
Election; Lisa Grey, a
lawyer; Janine Materna, president of the Pleasant Plains, Prince's Bay, Richmond Valley Civic Association; Carmine Morano, who ran as the Independence Party candidate for Congress in 2008; and Michael Reilly, a retired NYPD lieutenant and
currently president of Community Education Council 31.
