CBS» Simon & Schuster and News Corp.'s HarperCollins Publishers have struck deals with Amazon.com to determine their own prices for
electronic titles, according to The Wall Street
Journal and BusinessWeek reports.
The Wall Street
Journal has Hachette Group CEO David Young announcing that nearly all of his firm's
titles will now be released simultaneously in
electronic format with the print editions.
In addition to fiction and nonfiction
titles, academic ebooks can refer to reference books, academic
journals, scholarly monographs, etextbooks,
electronic reference materials, and «even long documents available solely as Web pages,» the report notes.
