Most players have
eliminated side bezels on their smartphones like Samsung with its Galaxy S8, Note 8 devices, LG with its G6, V30 +, Xiaomi with its Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2.
Both the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 have not completely
eliminated the side bezels, though this is a taller display with more viewing space.
Edge - to - edge displays
eliminate the side bezels and minimize the top and bottom ones.
Recently, LG endowed its G6 smartphone with an 18:9 screen ratio QHD + display, which has been called a near edge - to - edge display since it minimizes but doesn't totally
eliminate the side bezels.
As small as today's bezels have gotten, we haven't completely
eliminated the side bezel just yet, so this is unavoidable.
This design
eliminates any side bezels and allows the Note 8 to have a very small top and bottom bezel.
However, these have a display aspect ratio of 18:9, and while they do eliminate the top and bottom bezels, they don't
eliminate the side bezels.
Instead of a strangely curved display, the phone will reportedly feature a three - sided wraparound display that will completely
eliminate side bezels and will offer touchscreen buttons on the phone's edges.
It has a dual curved display that wraps around the edges and seamlessly blends into the back,
eliminating any side bezels.
Not exact matches
Of course, the concept doesn't include any technical specifications, but based on the images, part of the way such a form factor might be achieved is by
eliminating the
bezel of the device's
sides.
Still Xiaomi has not completed
eliminated the
bezels on the
sides, though there are buttons on the front and instead both phones have in - screen display.
Around the
sides and the bottom of the handset, the
bezel is practically
eliminated, creating the appearance of a device covered entirely by a screen.
However, it does not completely
eliminate the
bezels on the
side or the ones on the top and bottom.
The Galaxy Note 8 shares the new Infinity Display — an 18.5:9 ratio, dual curved display that curves around and seamlessly blends into the back,
eliminating any
side -
bezels.
In other words, the plan is to all but
eliminate the top and bottom
bezels (the
side bezels are already very thin), which would supposedly create a very minimalist and immersive experience.
Samsung Display and LG Display are both working on their own versions of a bezel-less screen, searching for ways to curve all
sides of the display and almost completely
eliminate top and bottom
bezels from the picture.
Companies like Samsung have already
eliminated the left and right
bezels with curved screens that spill over the
sides.
Samsung also announced the Galaxy Note Edge, which features a curved screen that wraps around the
sides of the device,
eliminating the
bezel entirely.
