Whether it is mind - numbing technical failures, flight delays or a fractured / non-transparent
elite program that preferences non-elites over top
tier members, United has worked extremely hard at disenfranchising their most loyal customers.
Both loyalty programs give complimentary domestic upgrades to their top -

elites but that just makes their wait - lists ridiculously long and doesn't necessarily improve the lot of the lower -

Don't forget that Qatar Airways is a
member of the oneworld alliance so if you have status on the likes of British Airways or American Airlines it will serve you well on these flights and you'll earn a LOT of Avios,

These confirmed point upgrades are often used by top -
tier elite members as well, because upgrades aren't guaranteed and better rooms aren't always available at check - in.
