People will unsubscribe if they don't
like what you're sending them; people will always unsubscribe after you send an
email so don't worry about it too much, but if you start out with a spammy self -
promotion email, you'll lose everybody.
I received an
email via my author website just
like the one Jeannette Bennett posted above, and thought it seemed
like a win - win opportunity for some free
promotion because hey, sometimes, good opportunities that don't cost anything do come along from time to time; I had hopes that this would be one of them... but I felt suspicious and then I came across this gem of a forum on the company's unsavory dealings.
Like much else in life, your earnings are mostly (unless you get really lucky) going to depend on the amount of effort you put in, when and where you run your
promotions, building a fan
email list (and putting the sign - up link in the back of your books) and so on, as well as how many books you have available.
Without investing in book
promotion boosters
like BookBub, authors may have to work harder to reach as many readers as those service providers shooting daily
emails out to their subscribers» inboxes.
