There have been stories of a Samsung Galaxy S8 that has no physical home screen,
instead, this feature will be
embedded in the screen alongside the
fingerprint scanner.
As mentioned, the
fingerprint scanner is
embedded into the power button of the LG G5, so you certainly won't have the opportunity to take a look at the lock screen for a quick glance at your notifications on pressing the power button, with the
scanner unlocking the device and opening the homescreen
instead.
Instead, the display will barely have any bezel around it, and the Touch ID
fingerprint scanner will be
embedded beneath the display itself.

Next year's tenth - anniversary model isn't quite expected to achieve that vision, but mounting evidence suggests that the device will no longer have a home button,
instead embedding the Touch ID
fingerprint scanner into the screen itself.
