Unlike the traditional GHG
emissions inventory which only accounts for carbon emissions associated with energy use in buildings and fuel burned in local vehicles, the Consumption - Based Emissions Inventory for San Francisco looks at carbon impacts of the full lifecycle of goods and services.

inventory of
emissions from the natural - gas industry over the past decade.
Lead UK researcher Prof Dabo Guan, of UEA's School of International Development, said the key contributor to the new estimates was fuel quality,
which for the first time was taken into consideration in establishing
emission inventories — something the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and most international data sources had not.
Those
emissions fell to about 1.3 billion tons in 2010, thanks to a sharp drop in deforestation rates, according to the latest national
inventory,
which is yet to be released.
The
inventory is usually comprised of these factors: the chemical or physical identity of the pollutants included, the geographic area covered, the time period over
which emissions are estimated, and the types of activities that cause the
emissions.
(We use 2012 figures because that is the starting point for what we actually need to accomplish; all
emissions numbers are from EPA's 2014 Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks: 1990 — 2012, which is the most recent official U.S. report to the Paris

In 2013 (the last year for
which Massachusetts
emissions inventory data are available), state - wide
emissions clocked in at 78.0 million metric tons — with most of this reduction having come from the electric sector.

Pomona College is a signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment,
which means the college must adhere to activities including an annual greenhouse gas
inventory and the creation and implementation of a plan for reducing climate change - causing
emissions.
For the UK, for example, our consumption
emissions in 2004 were 37 per cent higher than the UK Greenhouse Gas
Inventory which is based on territorial
emissions under UN rules.
The country developed its last official national GHG
inventory for the 2005 calendar year,
which makes it challenging to get an accurate read on current non-CO2 GHG
emissions.
In Lima, leaders from such cities as New York, Rio de Janeiro, and Guangzhou launched the Global Protocol for Community - Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission
Inventories,
which will help cities measure their
emissions, compare progress, and make good on climate commitments.
Companies are encouraged to develop an SF6
emissions reduction strategy,
which involves creating an
inventory of SF6 - using equipment and estimating current
emissions.
If the proposed nomenclature change is adopted by the United Nations,
which collects greenhouse gas
inventories from nations every year, it could change the optics of the climate change reductions nations are implementing, said Bryce Payne, director of science and technology at Gas Safety Inc., a company that measures methane
emissions.
The page includes links to the EPA's
inventory of greenhouse gas
emissions,
which contains
emissions data from individual industrial facilities as well as the multiagency Climate Change Indicators report,
which describes trends related to the causes and effects of climate change.
Over the spring and summer, WEG worked with students and stakeholders to identify opportunities to reduce
emissions onsite and conducted a building operations greenhouse gas
inventory for the WVEC,
which was then reviewed and confirmed by Canada's leading carbon offset provider and public registry, Carbonzero.
EPA's recent
Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas
Emissions and Sinks showed U.S. natural gas systems had a methane leakage rate of 1.2 percent in 2015 —
which is 30 percent lower than global average.
Nonetheless, the ministers left many issues unresolved to be concluded by the next COP in Mexico City, such as the global targets and timeframe for halting deforestation and for finance (
which in previous versions were suggested to be 50 % by 2020 and to halt gross deforestation by 2030 and targets to provide finance amounting to $ 15 - 25 billion by 2020), the institutional arrangements (such as market versus public finance mechanisms, a forest
emissions inventory, reference levels and a national or international registry), sub national reference levels for initial phases, the measuring, monitoring and verifying (MRV) systems and benefit distribution mechanisms.
In the next round of IPCC discussions in 2006, the proposed National Greenhouse Gas
Inventory Programme,
which calculates each country's carbon budget, will include
emissions from artificially flooded regions.
In 2015, the last year for
which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published comprehensive
inventory numbers, energy - related CO2
emissions accounted for 77 % of gross US GHG
emissions, with the remainder coming from direct CO2 emitted in industrial processes as well
emissions of methane, nitrous oxide, and other greenhouse gasses.
The trouble is that regulators are ill - placed to tell the difference,
which will only be clear decades after the presumed
emissions have been tallied — or not — in national carbon
inventories.
So, while they may have used an
inventory which underestimates
emissions, for the purposes of the paper they do scale these to match observations pertaining to atmospheric BC burden.
The newly discovered leaks, if counted in the E.P.A.
inventory, would increase its entire systemwide estimate by about 25 percent, said the Environmental Defense Fund,
which sponsored the research as part of methane
emissions studies it organized.
It is neatly organized by state and
emissions source, but that does not reflect the nature of the electric system,
which is responsible for the bulk of the
emissions in the
inventory but is not divided by state lines.
Overall, the study found that methane
emissions from all U.S. sources — including agriculture, oil and gas development, landfills, and coal mining — are 50 percent greater than estimates from the EPA
Inventory,
which recently lowered its estimate of methane
emissions from oil and gas systems.
