Art lending one highlight: the 1958 canvas «Three Flags» done in
encaustic — a traditional, wax - based medium that Mr. Johns used to create an uneven, almost rippling texture, underscoring the handmade nature of his flags.

Since learning this technique in early 2011 from Enrique Mustelier of Dutch Touch
Arts, Nicholas Clements has made many
encaustic paintings ranging in sizes from 4 ″ x7 ″ to 36 ″ x40 ″.
With a degree in Elementary Education she has taught
art professionally in the classroom and continues to teach
art workshops in the greater St. Louis area and around the U.S. Largely self - taught in a variety of mixed media techniques, Julie has studied
encaustic intensively since 2004 and is a Core Support Instructor for R&F Handmade Paints.
