on an artistic journey, shaped by several types of artistic media and she eventually found herself gravitating towards
painting with beeswax (the art of
encaustic painting).
(The Wild One is an original
encaustic / mixed media piece that measures 4» x8.75» and is
painted on a 1» thick maple block.
The analysis revealed the molecular and elemental composition of the
paint and the medium used to bind the
paint: The scientists discovered that the
painting was made using
encaustic — a technique that uses a mixture of pigment and melted beeswax that is «burned in»
on a wooden base.
Subsequently, this inspired him to create The Flag, a
painting in
encaustic — this classical technique has its roots in ancient Egypt and it is based
on mixing pigments with melted wax.
