While the Royal Academy's current abstract expressionism show reiterates that North American painting took the world by storm in an «age of anxiety», at the other
end of the Strand, in a gutted carapace of a brutalist building, this blockbuster exhibits the
creative versatility of moving
image and sound in our post-Y2K age — a period not without anxieties of its own.
The exhibition, which is curated by Pierre Apraxine and Matthieu Humery, brings together 130 photographs, taken between the
end of the 1940s and the mid-1980s, and has as a goal to cast a light on the
creative universe of the celebrated American photographer, putting relatively unknown
images side...

end retail centers, all of which exploit a particular mode of [relaxed tropicality].
