- Governments offer myriad tax supports and other
policies to help businesses in a wide range of
areas, from skills training to capital investment tax credits to export insurance to rebates for increasing
energy efficiency.
Those nine
areas are focused on agriculture (carbon farming), increasing
energy efficiency, reducing food waste, eliminating commodity - driven deforestation, reducing the climate impact of packaging, advocating for responsible
policies, committing to 100 percent renewable power, reducing short - lived climate pollutant emissions and transportation - related emissions.
In addition to pricing carbon, aggressive

Dutch
policy in the
area of climate change,
energy efficiency and renewables is very ambitious, and results may fall short of the objectives.
Work will focus on five thematic
areas, covering data and statistics;
energy efficiency; renewables, including system integration;
policy guidance and modelling; and technology development and innovation.

areas like capacity building for
policy makers, training, HFC alternatives technology,

Specifically,
policy needs to recognise that investing in
areas such as renewable
energy and
energy efficiency is not risk free, and therefore needs to be designed to allow investors to make appropriate returns relative to the risks that they are taking and the costs, risks and returns of other investment opportunities.
Other possible
areas of improvement for the US would be in passenger vehicle fuel economy, public transportation, the
efficiency of freight transport, water
efficiency policy, and requirements for large companies to conduct
energy audits and hire
energy managers.
