When we consider ongoing conversations around
enhancing teacher preparation programs, is enough time and attention being spent on the importance of cultural competency?
If that turns out to be the case, then we would, indeed, have a powerful tool for
enhancing teacher preparation programs.
We believe this model holds the potential to
enhance teacher preparation programs; strengthen school - university partnerships; and connect teacher educators, teacher candidates, and school - based practitioners via collaboration on intervention - based instructional research projects.

enhance the functioning of students with disabilities (Marino, Sameshina, & Beecher, 2009; Silver - Pacuilla, 2006).
The program will provide funding to districts and institutions of higher learning with approved
teacher preparation programs to develop innovative approaches to fieldwork requirements and
enhance the pool of

teacher preparation programs should facilitate inquiry - based, active learning approaches, in which students are researching, analyzing, and representing knowledge through the production of personal understanding.
