The sad truth is that we are just a couple of players away from having a very strong starting 11... Wenger's fixation with Walcott and mertesakher as starting players remains a mystery to me... neither have the
quality of a top team like arsenal... I am not a giroud hater but he is still too inconsistent and the big question is whether welbeck can push him in a way Walcott won't... Campbell has done well and has moved ahead of Walcott and, ox for sure but there is still a question
about how much more he can improve... Elneny is certainly an upgrade over arteta and flamini whether he will make it I don't know just hope that he does but arguably wenger could have been more ambitious... That leaves a top
quality striking option... There is no doubt that wenger deluded himself over the summer and that needs to be corrected ASAP... Draxler dybala aube and even griezman with a big
enough big could have been prized in summer... january not a good time for this but it is not difficult to find better options than Walcott ox or Campbell... All a question of whether wenger wants to win EPL on his terms or wants to win this for the club
I agree with you
about Wenger not being able to motivate the players but I don't think we have
enough quality every season.

People who say we do not need another dm know zero
about football while coq has done a fantastic job he will not be able to play every game and of course is bound to pick up the odd injury flamini is simply not good
enough to do the same job it is a must we sign another
quality dm so we are covered in every position for every occasion for big games we could even play both and sacrifice one of the flair players although i doubt wenger will do that the options will be there sign a gk, dm and cf and we willbe serious tittle challengers next season.
It's obvious for me that arsenal need 4 players to become a world class team like bayern and real madrid i couldn't dare mention barcelona because they have unbelievable front three and they maybe the best attack in history of football we are lacking
quality in the ST as well as the RW of course giroud and campvell are very good players but in my opinion they are less in
quality than the rest of the team so we need to improve the
quality in these positins
About the DM it's a number issue and i think the position is covered with flamini doing good job and elneny coming which can be deployed there
About the fourth signing we need is a center back I don't think i saw till now
enough minutes for gabriel to tell if he can make the position his own or not But what makes me doubt him that wenger didn't choose him till now over per which means he is not miles ahead of him so i think we need a new better CB This team can go and fight for every thing even the champions leafue....
The last two seasons Wenger has said «We have
enough strikers» which is contradictory to what he usually says
about Quality over Quantity.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive
qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score
enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think
about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely
enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing
about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class
qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Don't frankly know
enough about Van Dijk as a person other than seeing him on the field to draw a fair conclusion on that point, but yeah if that is not a valid concern then he is definitely
quality!
Last season Xhaka was able to at least supply
quality passes but was still very average defensively. He's never going to be good
enough as a CM or DM in the long run for Arsenal if you truly assess his qualities. All he can do is pass and shoot.Everything else
about him is average.
Striker I can understand - we will only get 1 if a big club buys and someone is not needed (then they can come to us) but what
about a CB; for god's sake there is
enough quality.
What's even stranger
about the Ozil signing, is that Wenger didn't give him any
quality forwards to work with until Sanchez's arrival, and even Sanchez isn't
enough on his own.
Are you really naive
enough to believe that Wenger would bring anyone into this current locker room that is going to be given a strong voice... have you not been watching, listening or reading
about our club for years... Lehman is a blind Wenger follower, which is the only reason he was even considered... just for a second think of all the strong personalities that have played for this club that have never been seriously considered even though they have expressed legitimate interest in participating in the coaching process... even worse, think of all the former greats who aren't even allowed on the same pitch as Wenger because they have offered their advice and / or criticism to the infallible one... I dare you to find a manager that has distanced himself from his former players as much as this man... it's the very reason why only one player I can think of has ever returned to play for Wenger and that was Flamini, which was hilarious considering we were desperately looking for a top
quality defensive midfielder but Wenger could somehow find no one better than Flamini in the whole wide world... let's face it this club was simply trying to appease it's disgruntled fans by declaring that Wenger would no longer be given Ca rte Blanche when it came to the backroom staff so they probably asked him to give them a list of those who he would allow in the locker room... on that list he wrote Lehman, Pires and Bergkamp, likely because the first two are the only former players who haven't publicly questioned his horrible decision - making and the last one because he won't get in an airplane
Arsene Wenger and just
about every single Arsenal player has come out and forecast that the Gunners are definitely improving
enough to be real challengers for all the major trophies next season, and there is absolutely NO doubt that we will quickly become one of the favourites if Wenger brings in more
quality players this summer.
He is not a
quality striker because he makes a lot of mistakes in his game. The fact that he scores 20 goals does not mean he is a
quality back up striker. It is one thing to be a goal scorer and another thing to be a good or average player.Goal scoring is a very important aspect of a player but not the only aspect.Trust me you can score 20 goals in all competitions and still be average. If Chamakh, Gervinho and all the so called flops scored this same goals they would still have been considered not good
enough for Arsenal. His game is just not good
enough and I for one believe even if no one believes that we can get a backup striker who is better than him and also a top centre forward. Its all
about mentality and willingness.Forget his goals and look at his game or else you'll force me to bring up strikers in the world who have scored his same goals and are even considered terrible.
United have not had transfers that do any better than us,
enough now
about him I am looking forward to the Gooners starting on the front foot with a full squad with
quality on bench and by end of August we will have bought well CB
On the incoming side of Arsenal's transfer window, we can't really complain
about the arrivals of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac, but condisering that we came 5th in the Premiership last season, we must realise that we have to improve
enough to leapfrog the 4 teams above us and must surely make one or two more top
quality additions.
Mr Lean, I agree I think Lacazzette is something wenger is thinking
about he's typical wenger and he would add
quality finishing to our side, we have some deadwood eg Flamini and I wish him the best but him and Diaby need to be released in the summer, I think Reid will come in this summer as a back up to the other 3, all we need is another striker and another DM and we are good
enough to challenge
If you know someone stupid
enough to say people don't care
about women's sports because they aren't as high
quality as men's, show them this match.
I assume that most, if not all, of the Arsenal fans that use this site have heard what our young Spanish right back has been saying
about the strength in depth in the Arsenal squad and there being
enough quality among the fringe players and the young Gunners to be able to step up and cover for the ones that have picked up an injury.
Gibbs I agree isn't a starter but as a back up he's more then good
enough The position we really need to worry
about us right back were relying on a 20 yr old who yes is
quality but it's asking a lot of him esp when / if he gets injured, even when debuchy took over from sagna in french team I didn't rate him then I dint rate him now average at best.
I would rather want
quality over quantity, and in the past he was forced to buy cheap and ultimately not really get the best players... but now I feel I would rather buy one world class player at a time and bind them in for the long term, than buy 2 mediocre players and then moan
about them a year down the line when they are not consistent
enough and under performing.
I don't know
about the rest of you Arsenal fans out there, but I have been starting to worry
about Arsene Wenger and his determination to ensure that the Gunners have
enough players of sufficient
quality to push on for the Premier League title, rather than hoping that we do not suffer from too many injury problems and the players we already have play at the top of their game.
I said I hope Coquelin has a good game against City and shoves your negative comments up your Arse he did that and not me but 99 percent said of arsenal fans agreed as for watching football to be an expert no wonder you can't see a good player Ya have to play the game to have any idea of
quality if I'm a sensationalist then great I had faith in him, and what's wrong with playing for Charlton to get experience Ya don't get it sitting on the bench again you know shit
about how clubs use there players
Enough of this back an forth crap I will wait till the end of season to see who was right
about him CB
Now while Wenger talks
about there not being
enough quality to bring in, the fact of the matter is, it was him and his team's job to find that
quality.
Gettleman will lay out the comprehensive, sweeping changes
about to hit an organization that can trace its demise to failures in identifying and procuring
enough quality players.
We all knew we wouldn't get anything from this game. The venue tight ground, in London, more importantly the effect of the Norwich result. It seems to me now that our season could be determined by one player.Benik Afobe. He showed
enough to warrant a start, Reading would be a great platform. We desperately need him to show the
quality we know he has. With the predicted further 3 loses to come, this is going down to the wire.NES attitude has always been
about his team, the system, style with little regard to the opposition, so it's too late for change, we have to carry on and hope that it will be
enough.I saw a great tactic used in Spain, that would suit Costa or Cavellerio, who get frequently caught offside. That is for one of them to stay offside, as long as they are not involved in the first phase of play, then they are brought into the 2nd phase, with defenders tracking back, they have the advantage.Mind you it was Barcelona and Messi!!
Mohamed Salah arrived from Roma this summer as a club - record signing with plenty of pressure on his shoulders, even if some did lazily show concern
about his
quality, after a forgettable spell at Chelsea in which he wasn't used nearly
enough.
