We wish it used renewable power like so many of their other products, but it'd be pretty incredible to get
enough cell phone battery power in 10 minutes of winding a crank.

Initial results already show stable charge - discharge cycling for as long as 200 hours, which is long
enough for use in some industrial or military applications, but not nearly adequate for
batteries used in laptops or
cell phones.
The problems that we saw however are relatively low
battery life, better than
cell phones but not
enough to say take on a camping trip with no recharge ability.
Charging the
battery pack (which holds
enough electricity to recharge a
cell phone or iPod) to full capacity takes 5 hours of sunlight, so unless you plan on being outside quite a bit of the day, it might be smart to detach the solar panels and
battery pack and set them out in the sun for a stretch.
