GOPNIK: It's very easy for play to get lost, because if you're trying to put together a schedule and you have a whole list of school - readiness activities, there's just not
enough time for play.

playing, Ive said it
time and
time again our squad is only half world class the rest are mediocre at best (yes I know Ill get thumbed down ect by all the AKB's on site) but the results over the last ten years are proof alone that we are NOT good
enough to compete with the other Elite teams.
Respect to Aaron
for stating a fact, Wenger make the fans criticize the players because he force them in the team or
play them out of position like wilsh and Ramsey.if Wenger would accept to rotate the players every one would have
play time but he insists on
playing the same team again and again. He does it when we win and when we loose that why we are never consistent

It is quite disturbing to read (most of the
time) fans talking about some potential recruits or even current squad players «not being good
enough to
play for Arsenal»...!!!
If that materialises, then it would potentially have a negative impact on his
playing time at Barca, albeit he's versatile
enough to fill other roles too, but perhaps he'll have a better chance at landing a more prominent role
for Madrid in that case.
Bottom line, if he is angered bench the players who were not good
enough and
play those who deserve some game
time based on the Southampton game or on games where they had a positive impact: - Take Özil out and
play Ox in the hole (he has to understand your the highest paid player of the club, your given freedom like nobody else and your even seeking even more money with a new contract you can't
play like that ever and go AWOL)- Put Sanchez on the wing or up top but put Welbeck in (Walcott didn't track back near
enough for the Alsonso goal)- Iwobi has been bright from the wing let him
play there - Xhaka has to go back in the holding midfield role and I would take out Coquelin because he could've taken a foul on the hazard's goal.
I'll go a step further if Van Djik hasn't signed
for Liverpool I would try to make a move and here is why: 1) Prem experience 2) Southampton
plays a similar style of football than Arsenal 3) He can
play in both a 3 and 4 man defense with his ability on the ball 4) Mustafi has been up and down and I don't know which one we're getting ahead of next season and will it be
for 38 weeks 5) Mertesacker will go into a non
playing role 6) Chambers has
played well at Boro but well
enough to
play a big role into this team... not really and could be used in any deal
for Van Djik 7) Koscielny is our best defenders but is dealing with a chronic injury not only that he hasn't made the best decisions at
times Everything mentioned above will free wages but also increase Wenger money to spend!

Atleast all our players would have had to know every other players style on the pitch of
play not in the training ground, i used to say akb but honestly wenger is not acting like the acronym, something has to happen the man has got to wake up or step down, but im scared of change cos it is like a gamble, a new coach with a new philosophy and style, it might take
time to adapt and that
time would be
enough for other teams to step up thus demoralsing the club, both fans and board, wouldn't like us to do a porchettino, look at Liverpool, if its gona be a new coach its got ta be one of em arsenal ol boys, who knows what it is like to be called a gooner, that's just my thought on this matter,

We're NOT linked now with anyone else and that's a worrying thing in itself, I personally really don't think Walcott is good
enough to
play that striker role and I know I'll get roundly «thumbed down»
for this but its how I feel about the boy he's good but NOT as good as he thinks he is and it annoys me that theres a possibility that all the toing and froing around his contract may be stopping us from signing a top notch striker (and I DO NT think Martinez is this) I do feel that AW will opt
for the cheap and second rate options again and this will also include not buying a striker and putting Walcott in this role, meanwhile all our rivals will be putting strong established players into the positions where they need to bull up their squads we are not well known
for doing this and its not going to happen now, which is infuriating as this is the right
time to break that mould and go
for it!!
I wonder if Hexy decided in the beginning of the year that it was more important to showcase Weise and / or Lehtera in hopes of them
playing well
enough to entice a GM somewhere to give up something to take one of them off our hands than to have a slightly better player in Meat on the roster but now that we are within striking distance of actually making the playoffs, Meat is getting the
playing time while Weise is appropriately relegated to watching from afar and Lehtera would be if it weren't
for Raffl getting hurt.
Mertz should never have been our captain in the first place... who has ever heard of a team that makes 11th hour transfer buys (Arteta & Mertz) then seemingly places those same individuals into prominent leadership positions from the get - go... indicative of the problems that have permeated our clubhouse
for the better part of 7 years under the Kroenke & Wenger... what is wrong with the players chosen and / or the management style of Wenger that doesn't develop and / or encourage strong leadership from within... Mertz was the fine collecting lackey from year one... this is what happens when you don't get world - class players because many
times they want to have a voice on and off the pitch and this can't happen when you
play for a fragile manager who has developed a coddling wage structure where everyone is rewarded
for simply wearing the shirt and participating in the process... not
enough balance between performance and pay, combined with the obvious favoritism shown to some players regardless of their glaring lack of production... remember that Ramsey has
played in positions that make no sense considering his skill - set (out wide) and has forced other players off the field or into equally unfamiliar positions with little or no justification (let's remember when you read articles about how Ramsey's goals this upcoming season being the potential X-factor
for our success that this is the same individual who didn't score a goal until the final week last season)... this of course is just one example of many... before I hear another word from Mertz I want this club to address the fact that no former player of any real consequence has any important role in the management structure of this club, yet several former Gunners have expressed serious interest in just such an endeavor (Henry, Viera, Adams, Bergkamp... just to name a few legends)... there is only one answer: an extremely insecure manager!!!
Amazingly
enough, it just might as The Mirror is reporting that the PSG and France international Adrien Rabiot, who has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in the past, has actually asked his club
for a loan move in January to get more
playing time.
I strongly believe he should / will be given another season at least to show what he can do albeit in a different role to which he wants... he will have ro reinvent himself and learn to
play and score from the wings because to be perfectly frank he had more than
enough time and games to show he can top strike
for us when he first joined and Giroud was out Injured and he was less than impressive goals wise.....
Up front we have a few world - class players surrounded by some serious pretenders... Sanchez is by far the most accomplished player in our attack but the controversy surrounding his contractual mishandling could see him go before the window closes or most definitely by season's end... obviously a mistake by both parties involved, as Sanchez's exploits have never been more on display than in North London, but the club's irresponsible wage structure and lack of real intent have been the real undoing in this mess... Lacazette, who I think has some world - class skills as a front man, will only be as good as the players and system around him, which is troubling due to our current roster and Wenger's love of sideways passing... Walcott should have been sold years ago,
enough said, and Welbeck should never have been brought in from the get - go... both of these players have suffered numerous injuries over their respective careers and neither are good
enough to overcome such difficulties: not to mention, they both are below average first - touch players, which should be the baseline test
for any player coming to a Wenger - led Arsenal team... Perez should have been
played wide left or never purchased at all; what a huge waste of
time and money, which is ridiculous considering our penny pinching ways and the fact that fans had been clamoring
for a real striker
for years... finally Giroud, the fact that he stills wears the jersey is a direct indictment of this club's failure to get things right... this isn't necessarily an attack on Giroud because I think he has some highly valued skills, but not
for a team that has struggled to take their sideways soccer to the next level, as his presence slows their game even more, combined with our average, at best, finishing skills... far too often those in charge have either settled or chosen half - measures and ultimately it is us that suffer because no matter what happens Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke will always make more money whereas we will always be the ones paying
for their mistakes... so every
time someone suggests we should just shut - up and support the team just think of all the sacrifices you've made along the way and simply reply... f *** off
Campbell has never looked good
enough in the games I have seen him
play for us, he has shown plenty of potential but he needs
time and gametime in the EPL.
He may be getting a bit old
for it, but given the option I'd send him out on loan again so that he can prove himself elsewhere first, he's good
enough to break into the first team of most premier league sides so he can get regular
playing time and improve.
Cazorla might be the one who gets less game
time,
playing more as cover
for Ozil to save his legs and give them both
enough of a break at
times during the long season?
He's one of only 63 players ever to
play enough to qualify
for the batting title at 39, and his OPS + ranks 19th among them, surrounded by some all -
time greats like Frank Thomas and Chipper Jones, Tris Speaker, and also Jeff Kent somehow.
I would love to see a big dm option come in, but again with all our midfield options due back by the
time we face spurs (in 5 matches
time) I can see wenger running with 2 of cazorla rosicky chamberlain ozil ramsey wilshire arteta zelalem diaby and niles,
playing either side of coquelin flamini chambers or hayden, again 14 options
for 3 positions will be considered
enough by wenger.
Poldi
played less than three games
for Germany, primarily because he did nt get
enough time for Arsenal to be favored ahead of Schürrle.
«But you could see he was losing balls — he hadn't
played for a long
time and three days training is not
enough.
Koscielny's age is getting the better of him, Mustafi doesn't look like he's good
enough, Bellerin cares more about his speeches and looks rather than his
playing, and you're left with Monreal, who's been the one good thing about this defense
for a long
time now, but his age is also a concern.
He can provide
enough relief
for Zo and he'll be a much better team player if he
plays full
time for the Lakers.
and thier injuries need to be manage better maybe less
playing time for some than others, unfortunately wenger cant afford to give them the proper
time of his coaching, as he is under massive pressure to succeed these days and hasn't got
time to train them up properly, also he isn't tactically flexible
enough to accommodate them into different attacking systems, to test what they can do like having the ox in a 3 man midfield could work wonders.
For instance, Utah's Bruce Seals (ex-Seattle Sonic) confronted Coach Dick Nemelka at halftime when he felt he wasn't getting
enough playing time.
As has been proved in the first four games, which have netted the Gunners 10 points from a possible 12 and already secured us a place in the next round, Wenger had a strong
enough squad to do it without too many problems and you could say that the experience and
playing time on the pitch has been very useful
for the young Gunners and the fringe players who would otherwise not have featured much.
in big games he gets tactically beaten almost every
time he doesn't
play our strongest team, even in big games
for years he is not addressing obvious problems in our squad
enough is
enough
neither arteta nor flamini is good
enough to
play for arsenal per mertasacker should be our 4th choice cb he can
play well against less technical more physical teams like stoke but he is not good
enough in big games we need 1 - 2 cdm's / cb's what will happen in jan only
time will tell
Hazard Jr. also admits that the prospect of
playing in the Champions League
for the first
time with Gladbach is more than
enough incentive to keep him abroad
for at least one more season.
Flamini and Mikel are
enough back ups
for the coq, we have Ramsey, Wilshere, etc... There is no need to buy any DM, because someone has to be benched, Coq wouldn't want schneiderlin because they are of the same nationality and they
play the same position, they both need
play time and space to master their craft.
# 250M should do it and we might, just might get a last (and first) opportunity (
for a long
time) to have a squad of players that is good
enough to allow us to see a season of proper Wengerball being
played with plenty of away goals and away points and the chance to win a trophy or two.
Wilshere isn't good
enough to start
for Arsenal yet, but he still gets Man of The Match
for England almost every
time he
plays, meanwhile Cazorla, who is ahead of him, rarely starts
for Spain and is used as a substitute mainly.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer
for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of
play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and
play» mentality where players
play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance
play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted
play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone
for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was
playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as
for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched
played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score
enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball
play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he
played with Coq Wenger always seemed to
play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as
for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong
times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been
played out of position far too many
times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad
for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely
enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at
times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
A couple
times he had a good opportunity to
play a simple
enough through ball, also when out wide he held up
play allot, with little penetration
for getting in behind and getting decent space
for crossing.
The Sooners made
enough plays to top Texas, 29 - 24, the week after but then got torched by Kansas State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and TCU (the first
time)
for an average of 7 yards per
play and 34 points per game.
Lacazette always looks dangerous when he gets the ball, but with the strength and pace of EPL defenders he doesn't get much
time on the ball as our opponents have learned his style of
play, but Wenger thinks that he still does
enough for the team even though he can't seem to score any more.
Cech's better days are behind him but he is still ahead of Ospina in my view.We need a Top Tier GK next season and Oblak is being touted and this is the type of quality we need to introduce in ALL positions that need strengthening.Next season I would have the following pecking order
for our keepers Oblak (or similar quality) Cech - He would relish a No2 roll with the cup games to keep him sharp Martinez - He will get his opportunities and follows Cech to No2 roll after 1or2 seasons Macey - loaned out
for season Ospina - Too good not to
play regularly but NOT good
enough to be AFC No.Sell him and let him enjoy some game
time
