Besieged is indeed a Bernardo Bertolucci film: it features
enthralling location
photography (done here
by Fabio Cianchetti) and a fairly thin story (based on a short story
by James Lasdun) set to a languid pace.
Photography is very much a British thing, and no sooner had William Henry Fox Talbot perfected it than art in this country became
enthralled by the camera: this exhibition traces those initial endeavours to combine the two.
