It is the contention of soccer students that the actual play of a game is something no one can analyze with accuracy, simply because it is played almost
entirely by instinct and feel.

The film is hardly immune to the sweaty, rumpled allure of the newsroom, best personified
by a lively Hanks and a truly excellent Bob Odenkirk as Ben Bagdikian, the reporter whose sharp
instincts yield most of The Post's genuinely riveting sequences, one of which consists
entirely of Bagdikian standing at a bank of pay phones.
Yet the
instinct is to forgive it for a while because the cast is exceptional; the chemistry between Krasinski's paterfamilias Lee and wife Evelyn (Emily Blunt, Krasinski's real - life wife) is effortless and true, and the kids, Marcus (Noah Jupe) and Regan (Wonderstruck's Millicent Simmonds), are attractive enough that it wouldn't be
entirely awesome to see them murdered
by space mantises.
