I think that some people automatically reject such justifiably apocalyptic language as «exaggerated» because they have an a priori bias that such consequences are «unthinkable» and simply can not happen, which is an understandable bias because we are talking of changes that are entirely outside the realm of human experience throughout the history of our species.
