Like the first game
acquiring certain powers or
items allows one to gain access to areas of the world previously inaccessible, but your reward for backtracking through the
environments is a little corridor or room containing one of the many different collectibles, an effort that sometimes doesn't really feel worth it.
To account for the bit of old - school joy that's now taken away (unless you opt not to scan your
environment), Samus Returns makes the process of
acquiring items you've located more difficult than usual.
Items may also
acquired at points in the game which can be used to defeat enemies or progress through the
environment.
