The disease is histologically characterized by eosinophilic and lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates and the formation of
eosinophilic granulomas in different organs.

Cavaliers are commonly affected by a condition called eosinophilic stomatitis, which often manifests on the soft palate.1 This inflammatory condition is similar to
eosinophilic granulomas in cats, but histologically, the disease in Cavaliers often lacks granuloma formation.

This mysterious disease of cats goes by many names: rodent ulcer, lick ulcer,
eosinophilic granuloma disease,
eosinophilic complex etc., and despite the tremendous progress that has been made
in veterinary medicine, why it occurs remains an enigma.
