series based on the novels by Edward St. Aubyn spans several decades of

episode in which Hazel's disgruntled husband Laurence Harvey grinds her up for chicken feed.
With each
episode devoted to one of the five novels, the
series will encompass the saga of
Patrick Melrose's life, from his horribly abusive youth at the hands of his father (Weaving) and the mother who tacitly condones the behavior (Leigh), to the outrageous playboy he becomes and the struggles he endures to defy the damage of his own past, the premium cable channel's description continued.
The eight -
episode series is a Netflix original production, executive produced by Emmy Award winner Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler, and also stars
Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes.
It's his first directorial gig since Beasts of No Nation, and as he did with True Detective, Fukunaga directed all ten
episodes of Maniac (the entire
series script was written by
Patrick Somerville).
Melrose will have a five -
episode, limited
series run on Showtime, with each installment covering one of the five
Patrick Melrose books.
In what is easily the funniest
episode of the
series, Mulder and Scully recall the string of bizarre events that led Mulder to put a stake through young Ronnie Strickland (The Sandlot's
Patrick Renna) after mistaking him for a vampire.

Sky's new original
series,
Patrick Melrose, will be simulcast in the UK and US on 13th May, with each
episode available to watch online from the wee small hours of the morning.
It does seem that maybe the
series creators, at last for the first two
episodes (that were sent for review), don't want to reveal too directly the root of
Patrick's issues, but that seems rather silly given how much
Patrick loathes his father, David (Hugo Weaving), and how much menace and evil Weaving's unrepentant abuser conjures up right from the start.

episode teeters right on the edge of sublime and too much.
Last month, it was revealed that Lithgow is returning to star as
Patrick Harris's father in hit
series How I Met Your Mother for at least one
episode.
Coming a bit later in the month is the
series premiere of
