The decline
in equity, with African American students falling behind students from other racial / ethnic groups, is particularly disturbing and has raised questions about the policies
around school closings and openings, which disproportionately affected African American students.

Given that women's participation
in the profession (thirty - seven percent) is still decades away from equaling that of men and that women have stalled at
around twenty percent of partners (17 % for
equity and 23 % for income partners) for many years now, it is clear that women still have a very long way to go to mirror the gender equality that law
schools have enjoyed for over twenty years.
