Interead's attempt at a Kindle - killer, the COOL -
ER reader, begins shipping this month.
There's a new Cool -
er Reader coming, and it's supposed to give Amazon a run for its money.
Coolerbooks, Interead's bookstore meant to correspond with the COOL -
ER Reader, has gained 1 million public domain titles from Google Books.
The COOL -
ER Reader hasn't received a whole lot of attention since it first came out, but this move greatly increases the size of its online library.
In July the company behind the Cool - Er reader went into liquidation.

ER reader is based around the ePub format and not tied to any specific service.
Less - expensive offerings like the Cool -
er Reader and Foxit's eSlick don't come with any type of screen protector (a leather cover ships with all Kindles), and no non-Amazon e-book readers on the market have the Kindle's excellent wireless service.

Users can download books to their computers, then load them to a connected COOL -
ER reader.
The COOL -
ER Reader, which looks a bit like a distorted iPod Nano, comes in a variety of bright hues and sports a 6 - inch e-ink screen that displays text in eight shades of gray.
Of course, what serious reader is without perennial favorites such as Aldiko, Cool -
er Reader, Comic Rack, FB Reader, Moon + Reader.

The news adds to the growing ebook market, that has seen plenty of activity in the last couple of weeks from company's such as iRex, Sony with it's Sony
Reader and Cool -
er.

readers on the market at 170 mm x 117 mm x 10 mm.
Kobo content also works on a number of dedicated e-readers, including the Sony

Interead's Cool -
er is an independent
reader, trying to carve itself a niche.
There's undoubtedly more interest in eBook
readers than there was even a few months ago and the Cool -
er device from Interead aims to service a slice of this.
But now it has company: the Sony Digital
Reader PRS - 700 ($ 350) and the Sony Digital
Reader PRS - 505 ($ 280), as well as lesser - known alternatives like the Interead Cool -
er Books ($ 249) and the Astak EZ
Reader ($ 270).
Budget electronics maker Slick is preparing to launch a new eBook
Reader called the
ER - 701.
Jones is still involved in a website called Coolerbooks.com, which sells ebooks for the Cool -

Should the Kindle be filling Christmas stockings come December, it could be the tipping point for the ebook market, which has yet to take off in Britain despite the availability of other
readers, such as the Sony
Reader PRS - 505 review and Interead Cool -
er.
