It was deemed suitable for western gardens and
erosion control because it thrives in riparian environments, and it can tolerate the dry, saline conditions common along western rivers.
Ken Kutska, superintendent of parks and planning for the Wheaton Park District, said he was heartened by the attention given to
erosion control because of the interdependence of the waterway systems.
