Once you reviewed your credit reports and if you feel there are
errors on your credit report file, tell the credit reporting company, in writing, what information you think is inaccurate.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, more than 20 percent of Americans had
errors on their credit report as of 2013, and more than 5 percent of those errors were serious enough to negatively impact a credit or interest - rate decision.
Unfortunately, many people do not find out they have
errors on their credit reports until it has cost them to be turned down for credit cards, mortgages, student loans, jobs, and other important loans and housing opportunities.
