While overall mortality rates
of CHD have been declining in the U.S., the
number of CHD deaths in the diabetic population has
escalated as the prevalence
of the
disease has increased.
According to the EPA, the
number of children diagnosed with chronic childhood
diseases such as asthma and cancer has increased significantly, and those
escalating rates warrant closer study
of the environment as the underlying cause
of the
diseases.
