This will allow steam to
escape during baking.
The recipe did not say anything about slashing the top, but I made a couple of slashes, to allow steam to
escape during baking.
Take care that the pastry doesn't tear around the edge of the tart or the juices will
escape during baking.
Poke hole in top crust to allow air to
escape during baking.
Cut vents into the top crust to allow steam to
escape during baking.
