N.Y. (AP)-- Two political advocacy groups are considering a legal appeal after a New York state
ethics board rejected their request to shield major donors from public disclosure.

Baird was
rejected by the
ethics board because she worked on
board member John Frolish's campaign and served as an election commissioner at polling places for the candidate.
But some of her campaign promises — such as increased transparency, the appointment of an inspector general and other
ethics reforms that have been
rejected previously by the current town
board — could be difficult to fulfill when she takes office.
Following the Town
Board's receipt of the letter, a majority of the council effectively
rejected the finding by taking no action on the
ethics panel's conclusions, which included a recommendation that McKenna and Magarelli issue public apologies for the alleged infractions.
Last month, a legislative committee called the Legislative Council
rejected a plan by the state
board of education to put a code of
ethics in the state administrative code.
