The NDC has in some instances accused Nana Addo for silently condoning supposed
ethnocentric comments made by some members of his party.
The Akim Oda MP tendered in his resignation on Thursday, following pressure from the Minority, and some civil society groups for making
ethnocentric comments, which was triggered during a conversation on how government has dealt with the fall army worm invasion in the three regions of the North.
Nana Addo has however rejected the tag and has called on his party folks to run a campaign devoid of
ethnocentric comments.
The former deputy minister was heavily criticised for making what many considered
ethnocentric comments with regards to people from the north in the heat of the destructive fall armyworms invasion.
A former deputy agric minister under the Akufo - Addo - led government was forced to resign under similar circumstance when he was accused of making
ethnocentric comments, though he apologised profusely.
Comparisons were made to the former deputy Agriculture Minister, William Quaitoo, who resigned from his portfolio after making
ethnocentric comments.
Nana Akufo - Addo said these are
ethnocentric comments by a President who has no plans of presiding over a unified country, and he is willing to say and do anything to win an election.

Mr. Quaitoo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, faced the scorn of the public, the National Democratic Congress Minority, and some civil society groups, for making
ethnocentric comments, after saying northern farmers could not be trusted in their assessment of the damage from the army worm.
Napaga Tia Sulemana was one of the strongest critics of
ethnocentric comments by former Agriculture Minister William Quaitoo who was forced to resign.
However, the diplomat has revealed Akufo - Addo and other NPP stalwarts — whom he mentioned in his statement — are the worst culprits when it comes to
ethnocentric comments.

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), which is usually measured in its approach to issues, joined the litany this week with a strangely one - sided statement rudely entitled: «Prez Mahama's
Comments:
Ethnocentric, Divisive and Condemnable».

Touching on ethnocentrism, the NPP secretary debunked the assertion that the party was
ethnocentric and blamed the ruling NDC for espousing such mischievous propaganda, spinning deliberate exaggeration on
comments some individuals in the NPP may have made.
Comments like this, with
ethnocentric undertones, make the New Patriotic Party look bad in northern Ghana, she added.
Mr. Nyarko replaces William Quaitoo who resigned from the position following some
comments he made which were deemed as
ethnocentric in relation to the fall army worm invasion saga.
Following the round condemnation, Mr. Quaitoo «unreservedly, retracted and apologized sincerely» for his disparaging
comments, which many considered
ethnocentric.
Mr Amaliba was speaking on TV3's New Day on Saturday as regards the resignation of William Agyapong Quaitoo, who succumbed to pressure after
comments deemed
ethnocentric.
Meanwhile President John Mahama has been asked by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) to apologize for making the
comments which has been deemed
ethnocentric.
