There are perks to long trips: you can read a good book, watch that movie you've been meaning to watch for hours or
even catch up on sleep.
The time I spent laying next to and waiting for my babies to babble and toss and turn and process the days happening and to finally drift to sleep have turned out to be the perfect time for me to meditate or plan meals, day dream about the future and
even catch up on some sleep.

And the idea of letting kids
catch up on sleep on weekends doesn't work because some kids wake
up early anyway (as many bleary - eyed parents will attest), or they
sleep in really late and then are
even less likely to be sleepy at an early bedtime during the school week.
But instead of spending the rest of the
evening catching up on your chores and clocking some precious time with your partner, you're in and out of your child's room, cajoling her to
sleep.
We used to be able to put her down in her crib after nursing her to
sleep a couple of times in the
evening and I could
catch up on work a little for the 1 - 2 hrs that she would
sleep.

on music and dance together, go for a walk in the woods, put everyone to bed with books early
on Friday night for a quiet, relaxing

catch up on family, friends, and life happenings, make sure to get 7 to 8 hours of
sleep per night.
