But after a fantastic set up and the developent of a
creepy atmosphere it runs out of fresh ideas and chooses to throw out the typical cliche's aimlessly, and
even adds into the mix the incredibly annoying «final jump», before the credits start to roll and doesn't end the way it should.
The game features genuinely
creepy atmosphere even though it has some design issues with its gameplay that might lead to some frustrating moments, it still remains one of the most frightening game that I have played this year.
Maria Bello as the mother overacts a bit, but mental illness to me is always a
creepy subject, and some of the mother's behaviour here is bat - shit crazy, adding
even more to the
atmosphere.
But with all that said, there is an interesting narrative that involves David's father weaved throughout the game, and the Gothic
atmosphere of the house is exceptionally
creepy,
even if it's not particularly novel.
From what I saw and what I experienced playing Diablo 3, originally the biggest draws the series itself had were the supposed dark and
creepy atmosphere with the demons, the endless search for better loot to improve your character, and the randomly generating dungeons, all of which were big points for why Diablo fans had kept on playing number 2
even 13 years after the games release.
