Babies need a lot of sleep; we know this, so why is it that
sometimes babies simply won't take a
nap even when they're clearly showing signs of being shattered?

I've been trying to not let it go so long so that he won't go down for an afternoon
nap by 2 p.m. and he'll rest about an hour and I let him sleep no later than 4 p.m.. His bedtime is 7 p.m. at the latest (many times he's ready for his milk and bed by 6:45 p.m.) He goes down without any trouble and
even if he lays awake for thirty minutes (
sometimes longer) in his crib, he won't cry.
Is the fact that she is not in REM while eating sufficient or should I somehow strive for an
even MORE awake baby??? As for question # 2: Anila's cycles are as follows: eat (and try to stay awake)- usually takes about 1/2 an hour or so wake - is or tries to be until 1.5 hours prior to next feeding sleep - 1.5 hours (but
sometimes its only 1) I know that at the moment she can be on a 2 1/2 - 3 hour schedule but I not sure what to do if she gets up from her
nap after an hour instead of 1 1/2 hours - should I feed her right away and then start the next cycle from there, throwing off the rest of the day's cycles??
Around 6 weeks old he started to take 40 - 50 minute
naps (
sometimes even shorter).
Mom described his «good» waketimes as lasting 1.5 hours, but most days he is awake after feeding for only 50 minutes before he gets «really grumpy» and only settled by being held,
sometimes not
even that works so she puts him down for a
nap.

The thing is that after two or three weeks at home, when he got all his vaccines, we started to leave the backyard door open for him to go out whenever he wanted to and we walked him several times a day so he never had the need of using the pads again, the problem is that he got so used to doing his business outside that he forgot what the pee pads are for (he
sometimes even takes his
naps on them) and when we leave him alone (usually not more than 4/5 hours a day) he does his business all over the house,
even when we leave some «strategic» pee pads here and there.
Sometimes she
even napped!
Still,
sometimes plain old creature comforts matter,
even in art, right down to the comfort of a nice
nap.

even takes
naps in the bathtub too.
