IWSR refers to this trend as «wellness», which manifests in drinking

The interesting thing is, Ryan's OVERALL nutrition approach is very similar to what I'm doing right now myself, focusing on eating protein and fats earlier in the day, training in the late afternoon / early
evening, then eating protein and
carbs (and
less fat) towards the
evening.
Even when I'm not producing and burning ketones, my
carb intake is well under 150 grams daily and many times, probably
less than 100grams.
It's ok to eat slightly
less protein though (I usually say 15 grams

even that small croissant can significantly increase your
carb intake, blood sugar, insulin levels and progress.
Nice parts, it does running totals thru the day on total
carbs, or
even net
carbs (of fiber), can track protein so i stay at
less than 1 grm per lean body mass, and what i found out i have approx 72 % of my calories from fat, 23 % from protein, and 5 %, or so, from
carbs.
I've noticed the
carbs I can take before getting kicked out of ketosis can be as high as 60 - 80 gm but
less than 10 gm can trigger inflammation, and its sometimes not
even net
carbs.
I am 5 ′ 3 ″, weight 135 lbs, have 20 % body fat (according to DXA), eat

evening), all food is clean - sourced and nutrient dense (Paleo / primal if you will).
These fat bombs are full of healthy fats, a moderate amount of protein, and come in at 4.9 g net

Then meals of meat / fish / eggs with low
carb veggies like asparagus, broccoli etc,

carb ones like carrots and parsnips are fine I think because it's about reducing the amount of fat to a level where it's
less of a problem.
If you are on Paleo and eat
less than 100 g of
carbs per day you are on a low
carb diet which can make you
even more hypothyroid and cause major imbalances that could take years to heal.
I say ionic because my whole reason for going very low
carb was to: clear my acne, maintain or
even lose a pound or two, live longer, look better, have a better digestive system, have more energy and sleep
less.
And while the «low
carb» options might have
less sugar, they use chemical - laden, artificial sweeteners which taste awful... and are
even WORSE for your health!

less than 130 grams of carbohydrates every day places you in a low -
carb program.

I wouldn't be surprised if people doing extended keto are
even less tolerant to
carb hits.
I wanted to increase the weights I lifted faster, to run harder, to eat
even less (and no
carbs at all!)
I decided to completely stop working out, and tried going low
carb around 80 grams a day, and lost about 4 pounds in 5 days (156), and have been maintaining around 158 (
even though I am eating
less than maintenance).
So I try to eat
less carbs in the
evening as a rule of thumb.
That said,
even though someone who eats as much as 200 - 500g of
carbs a day can still be starving their guts bugs if those foods contain little to now indigestible substrates (fiber), a generic rule of thumb (albeit an ugly measure) is
less overall carbohydrates — especially when you start dropping below 75 - 100g a day — translates into a dramatic drop in the amount of food reaching your colon where the vast majority of your intestinal microbial community resides.
Extra
carbs are not needed for most people who are
less active (or
even those who do weight training mostly) but for this type of exercise (running at this level), extra
carbs will be beneficial.
Even worse, those so - called senior formulas, the
less - active blends, often remove fat and add more
carbs!
Given the option, the cats exclusively chose high - protein food over high -
carb food
even when there was
less of the high - protein food available.
Gradually, you can start
evening out the
carb and protein ratio, as well as start to feed
less times and more food per meal.
