This disease causes severe retardation of growth, thick skin and painful blisters on the muzzle, eyes, nose, ears, feet, and mucous membranes which
eventually leads to pneumonia and death.
If left untreated, GERD can
eventually lead to growth problems, narrowing or closure of the esophagus, chronic
pneumonia, Barrett's esophagus (a precancerous condition), and apnea (a tendency
to stop breathing during sleep).
