The summer's unusual heat and abundance of hungry insects had promised an iffy tomato season anyway, but, needless to say, by the end of September, it was clear I would miss out on my yearly homegrown tomato activities: no weekends of steamy kitchen windows with boiling pots of canned sauce featuring my prized Cherokee Purples; no homemade, slow - simmered San Marzano tomato paste; no sheet pans lining the counters with roasted black cherry tomatoes (the best tomato flavor on this earth, ever).

And I just did a big clear - out of my cupboard and I've read this information years ago and I don't know why I keep forgetting this information but I went through my cupboards recently after being reminded and cleared out some of my nice teas that I like (there was Tetley), some seasonings and Stur that I started using in my Green Thickies that I wish I hadn't because it's got artificial flavourings, but I hardly ever used it, so no big deal, I stopped using it now.

If we start this season with those two in our starting 11 it will be a clear sign from this organization that nothing has changed and that we will never get it right until both Kroenke and Wenger are gone... neither one of these players should still be with our club at this point because they represent the settling half - measures that have plagued this team for a number of years... this is what I call the «no man's land» of the soccer world, where teams don't have enough talented young players, unlike a Monaco or Dortmund, because they have lost the plot from an organizational standpoint... they are so reliant on one individual to run the whole operation that their once relevant scouting department has become so antiquated that it can no longer find those hidden gems it once had... furthermore, when you leave all decision - making to a manager who despises any dissenting opinions, your management team becomes little more than a stagnant group of «yes men» and no new ideas emerge... so instead of developing a team with the qualities necessary to excel in a particular system, you continually make half - brain purchases year after year to stifle dissent from the ticket - buying public, then try desperately to finagle together a lineup regardless of what would make positional sense... have you ever heard of a team who plays players out of position so often... of course not because that manager would likely be fired and never work for a team of any consequence ever again

as long as king jack is alright i mean the team plays around jack so what ever will we do without our main man doesn't matter our slow dm are even more exposed doesn't matter if our best player last season is a showdow of himself since he is playing higher up and doesn't matter one of the best playmakers has been shifted out wide that all means nothing what matters is king jack stays fit and all listen to his commands in wenger we trust

In the midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average players who couldn't make any of the top 7 teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good team can afford to have that many average players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies... as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)
Mertz should never have been our captain in the first place... who has ever heard of a team that makes 11th hour transfer buys (Arteta & Mertz) then seemingly places those same individuals into prominent leadership positions from the get - go... indicative of the problems that have permeated our clubhouse for the better part of 7 years under the Kroenke & Wenger... what is wrong with the players chosen and / or the management style of Wenger that doesn't develop and / or encourage strong leadership from within... Mertz was the fine collecting lackey from year one... this is what happens when you don't get world - class players because many times they want to have a voice on and off the pitch and this can't happen when you play for a fragile manager who has developed a coddling wage structure where everyone is rewarded for simply wearing the shirt and participating in the process... not enough balance between performance and pay, combined with the obvious favoritism shown to some players regardless of their glaring lack of production... remember that Ramsey has played in positions that make no sense considering his skill - set (out wide) and has forced other players off the field or into equally unfamiliar positions with little or no justification (let's remember when you read articles about how Ramsey's goals this upcoming season being the potential X-factor for our success that this is the same individual who didn't score a goal until the final week last season)... this of course is just one example of many... before I hear another word from Mertz I want this club to address the fact that no former player of any real consequence has any important role in the management structure of this club, yet several former Gunners have expressed serious interest in just such an endeavor (Henry, Viera, Adams, Bergkamp... just to name a few legends)... there is only one answer: an extremely insecure manager!!!

This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits

Our defensive unit don't ever look like they've been briefed individually or together, except on those rare occasions when the pitchforks have been fully out for AW (like away at City that time, 2 - 0 win in Etihad a couple of seasons back...).
The idea that two Ram wide - outs could have topped 1,000 yards in the same season, first time ever on this club, ought to alarm the rest of the league, which had its hands full when L.A. coach John Robinson was doing his Woody Hayes impression.
We should design the biggest protesting plan that the world of football has ever seen, we should show the world that even in the era that money and billionaires are trying to corrupt football, fans still can take control, when we don't buy tickets or any merchandises the board wont profit, Emirates Stadium should be filled with very few people all holding banners with «Kroenke out» written on it, we should use ArsenalFanTV to destroy Kroenke, we have the tools, we should just use them in the right way and then we will defeat Kroenke, from last season i stopped buying anything Arsenal related and just watched Arsenal getting trashed by teams and it just made me extremely sad!!!
Nacho Monreal has been an ever - present in Arsenal's First XI this season, playing in all ten League games so far, so I was shocked to discover this morning that the Spaniard's contract at the Emirates runs out at the end of the season.
Excellent performances at the start of the season resulted in him being awarded his first cap for the Three Lions, keeping the ever improving Michael Richards out of the international loop.
my stance on wenger and this season is pretty simple: this season was a terrible failure, giroud, walcott, sanchez all failed to deliver and wenger has to take the blame for it and should be rightly criticised for it BUT a failure in football (an entertainment industry) should never ever warrant such abuse to a man, you guys should all chill out a bit if one reads some comment of some guys on here one could think wenger were the name of some rapist, pedophile or some serial murderer...
can u ever write an article without mocking arsene or wishing his reign to come to an end it is ok sometimes but every time come on man give it a break on to our defence there are only 2 games in this season where team's overall defensive performance can be taken to doubt first was pool because of both first team defenders out second is olympiakos where u can point to team not defending so well on corner that also was actually an individual mistake by ospina which changed the game so our defence is doing good job give credit where it is due of course it would be interesting to see whether we can contain the most inform team in Europe.
Arsenal should NEVER, EVER find themselves this far out of the title race at this point in the season.
Riley has made it clear he doesn't want to return to the bench, and potential hires down the line include only one NBA coach who has won a championship and isn't of retirement age: Doc Rivers, who has insisted to friends that he would sit out at least one season should he ever leave the Celtics.
The pair has won six times in his last 22 PGA Tour events dating back to Bay Hill in 2012, including four out of seven contests this season — the earliest he has ever won four events in a campaign.
With the club dropping out of the top four and playing an unattractive brand of football in his final season, it seems unlikely Van Gaal could ever have saved himself at United, regardless of anything Mourinho did in the background.
Well your righ with met spend but in amount paid out for players no net were 5th but i agree our champions league performances have been poor we had some tough draws and the premier league is more demanding then the other leagues in strwnght of competition and games played still excuses do nt win but that monaco loss left me shaking my head in cl we get theough the group but cant muster the strength needed for knockout and we should be performing better were under performing for the talent xhaka has frustrated me hes got the talent and plays well but cant hold focus in games he drops off and loses his marks our academy is doing well but yes it is tougher now to break in to the first team iwobi has done well but one or two seasons away from being there if he does turn himself elite ever has to score or he will just be another ox but i think its been a wake up call to the club we finally have to act theres a wave of ideas to not only get us back to winning ways but become title contenders and i think give him the extension one year its a world cup year and that will also allow our players esp strikers who been very poor this year realized its tough to play in englad and next year will have a better idea what it really takes to win here shore up some spots and depth and were in contention fail and the changes will happen but let him have one more year the fact were willing to spend shows me an upturn from the decline
I agree with you the players need some heat to perform to theor abilities and stop wasting created opportunities to kill games and or hold onto leads and i agree they need some heat to kick em in the arse to prevent them from under performing against milan but milan isnt city or chelsea but we need to beat them to get far in competition but i do nt think the players missing chances this year is whole heartey down to the manager and we need to finish out the year strong but with cazorla comong back and strengthening some spots in off season and now praying we finally have jack back this squad looks dangerous next year and wenger will have a good year with arsenal next year cazorla and another player will take time off xhaka and or put more pressure on him to perform but we have had success in recent seasons barley missing out on top four last year with highest points to ever miss out yes they need heat to perform strong rest of year but it is not wengers time to go yet be needs another season and if these two years are falling off we have done better than are rivals in are tough years
Truth is we do nt need 3 to 4 players its a More a mental issue the players need to maintain their focus Throughout the season of course every big team needs to strengthen no doubt but this players have the quality to Do something special we just need that extra bit of belief that we can do it, Last summer it was a fitness coach we signed this summer we should look out for a top Psychologist, cause which ever player joins no matter how big the player is if the environment you are playing in do nt have the belief youve got, you either over work yourself or you drop into the same mindset, Yes we do need to strengthen no we do nt need 3 - 4 players
For the nerds out there please find me another football coach who has ever done that «in the middle of the season»
It's either we're starting a season with just one fit defender (then using other makeshift players to augment the defence for a number of games; and by the time the real defenders are back and fit, the season is all but over for us), or we start a season without a recognisable striker (after losing our striker to injury, knowing he would return 6 weeks or more into the campaign), or we commence a season without any true DM (well, it's like that dm position isn't ever going to be sorted out).
