At the same time, they incorporate
classroom evidence of student learning and they have recently been shown in larger - scale studies to predict teachers» value - added effectiveness, so they help ground evaluation in student learning in more stable ways.
Evaluators look at classroom practice, plus

These questions may seem rudimentary, but they provide

In line with the MET report, I think some kind of triangulation of qualitative and quantitative data that utilizes student feedback (with teacher reflection), teacher and / or Professional Learning
Community evidence of student learning and growth (with teacher reflection), and supervisor feedback from classroom observations (with teacher reflection) would help to provide a balanced and multi-dimensional approach for more intentionally and comprehensively understanding teaching and learning.
The use of formative assessment strategies and the activation of specific thought patterns — like
comparing evidence of student learning to the goals of a lesson — must be automatic for formative assessment experts, so they can quickly process the evidence they elicit to determine what their students get and don't yet understand.
