While everyone is different, I like to psychologically separate these 2 events so I «feel» like I got a release
of my
rewards that had
exact value.
These would be those that give your
rewards an
exact value, either directly in the form
of cash, or a statement credit, or as a reimbursement for some purchase on your card.
While IHG will officially sell you IHG
Rewards points at a cost
of $ 13.50 per 1,000 points or 1.35 cents per point (which is terrible
value) there has long been a way
of «buying» points for a lot less — 0.7 cents per point to be
exact.
The
exact value of «far more dangerous» depends on the local risk
of cycling — in England the estimate is that per cyclist the risk:
reward ratio is about 1:10; here in the US (with our riskier roads) it is about 1:5, but in the Netherlands it is 1:25.
