Continuing the welcome trend toward more female - focused efforts, this new NBC series features three
excellent actors long overdue for lead roles: Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Mae Whitman (Parenthood), and Retta (Parks And Rec).

Nighy and West are probably the biggest names here, and they're both
excellent in parts a
long way from their usual type: the former is lovely and delicate as the shy, mild miner finding a new simmering rage at the government's treatment of his colleagues, while West gets to have flamboyant fun as the camp
actor, particularly in an impressive dance sequence.
BRICK cements Joseph Gordon - Levitt's transition from kid comedy star to serious adult
actor, though, for those with
long memories, he was doing some
excellent work as his generation's designated «creepy kid» before signing up for the absurdist shenanigans of «Third Rock from the Sun.»
