The pair is presenting a selection of «influential artists who began working with video early in its development and traces a line up through 1990, bracketing an important period for this medium and a fertile time for artistic activity on Long Island,» according to the introduction to the exhibition.

This is the second time I've interviewed Kembra, the first being at her solo exhibition entitled «Fuck Island» at Particpant, Inc. in September of 2012.

The exhibition will include signature early works; such as Miles Coolidge's «Storefront, Hospital, Office Bldgs,» from his 1994 «Safetyville» series, Liam Gillick's «Discussion Island Research Screen,» 1999, and Annika von Hausswolff's «Attempting to Deal with Time and Space,» 1997.

Paul's exhibition at Spike Island evolves around La Perma - Perla Kraal Emporium, a collaborative work that invites visitors to sit around a long table and make clay beads, thereby becoming the work at the same time as creating it.

With the Modern closing its Midtown home on May 21 during construction work and decamping to Long Island City, Queens, where it opens temporary exhibition space on June 29, the museum will have time to organize an exhibition that will include the gift, along with 24 additional works on loan from UBS PaineWebber.
