You'll be able to control it via
the existing Sonos app — which is getting a visual refresh today — in addition to by tapping and swiping the control surface on top.
They both run on the Sonos platform, meaning access to over 80 music streaming services, and they can both be grouped with
existing Sonos speakers.
Alexa support for
an existing Sonos speaker doesn't quite turn it into an Amazon Echo.
The update to
existing Sonos speakers allowing them to be controlled through Amazon Echo or Echo Dot will be available as an over-the-air update in beta form from 4 October.

The Sonos One is a no brainer for those who have
an existing Sonos system, those who are considering starting a Sonos system, or those who want a smart speaker that also delivers excellent audio quality.
Do you pick the Amazon Echo and sacrifice audio quality for smarts at a smart price, while also being able to control
an existing Sonos system?
For those not interested in seamless voice control however, or those that already have an Alexa - enabled device, the Play: 1 remains the perfect speaker to start embracing the Sonos system, or adding to
an existing Sonos system.

existing customers for the Echo Dot.
