Even though he's concerned about the traditional characteristics of sculptures, such as
volume, matter and space, unlike regular sculptors, Penone explores the boundary that
exists between the
physical self and the natural environment.
Conceived by the artist as an artwork, the elegant
volume of archive photographs that capture Iceland's diverse landscape is an investigation into our relationship with nature and the
physical space in which we
exist.
