Bates said the mandatory performance review process will build on
the existing teacher performance review framework that has been in place in Queensland's public schools since September 2012, but that has not been applied appropriately, or even at all, at every school.
Teachers might
review student
performance on a screening test, administer brief sub-skill assessments, or
review other
existing information to ensure that students gets support that is appropriately targeted.
The perfect evaluation system doesn't
exist yet, but we do have access to measures of
teacher performance that are far better than seniority:
teacher ratings, classroom management,
teacher attendance, specific licensure, peer or principal
review, value - added student data.
