Some of what we learned from Studyville's
experience with its teacher evaluation program is summarized in the following recommendations:
Not exact matches
The agreement allows the new
evaluation system to proceed, but delays the impact of state test scores until
teachers have gained
experience with Common Core standards and tests.
Key findings from the
evaluation show that 70 per cent of Key Stage 2 students felt they knew their
teachers better and 71 per cent felt they got on better
with their peers as a result of their residential

teachers, new and

teachers who must have had one too many bad

The GMDT shall be formed on the basis of the student's needs and shall be comprised of the student's parents, a certified school psychologist, persons familiar
with the student's educational
experience and performance, one or more of the student's current
teachers, persons trained in the appropriate
evaluation techniques and, when possible, persons familiar
with the student's cultural background.

In our
experience with the CEL 5D +
teacher evaluation rubric, we learned that we need to provide this important instructional anatomy background knowledge before school leaders can learn to use the new
evaluation tools.

with meaningful data analysis can help you identify why certain
teachers experience more success in different areas than others.
Berkeley Unified has imagined an alternative approach to
evaluation that takes into account the complexity of teaching, allows for the professionalism of
teachers, and acknowledges that
experienced teachers may have questions they want to explore and expertise to share
with other staff members.
Despite his claims to the contrary, if the governor's approach was adopted, and tenure was repealed, towns all across Connecticut faced
with budget problems that are unwilling or unable to raise taxes, would consistently drop the older, more
experienced teachers at the end of their certification periods — even if their
evaluations were good.
