explores color by
mixing and tinting the red and blue inherent in neon and argon gases.
Altered States looks at contemporary artists who
explore psychedelia (mostly painting and some constructions with a
mix of figuration, geometric and Op imagery) against a back drop of 1960s Op Art, figurative and
Color Field paintings, as well as original rock posters from concerts at the Fillmore West, Avalon Ballroom and other San Francisco venues to set the stage and create the mood.

explores themes, materials and
colors related to Kalunga, an ocean deity associated with the Bakongo people of Central Africa who were brought into the New World in significant numbers.

When I was interested in
mixing colors in the air, I worked in fireworks; when I wanted to
explore women's history, I decided to tell women's story using women's techniques, i.e. china painting and needlework; when I became interested in the subject of the Holocaust, I worked with my husband, photographer Donald Woodman, to fuse painting and photography, the photography to root the images in the historic events and painting to express the human story.

PROZAK In this exhibition, the Brazilian artist Prozak presents prints and paintings in
mixed media on paper, continuing his research on transparencies and overlays,
exploring the levels of saturation and contrast between
colors, and the reaction between the materials used.
