Exploring careers in the art
world, participants take part in a combination of studio visits, writing workshops and professional seminars
with some of New York's most significant artists and institutions, from diverse
cultural backgrounds and generations.
Curated by Sundaram Tagore,
with co-curator Marius Kwint, the exhibition will
explore the theme of
cultural boundaries through new and recent works, many of which were created specifically for the presentation, by established and emerging artists from around the
world.
The artists included in Cities of Conviction use visual language to
explore the pertinent
cultural issues facing Saudi Arabia and its citizens, which are in parallel
with those facing artists from Utah and, in a
world becoming ever more global, the artists also address the dilution of specific elements of culture.
Using traditional and innovative methods of production, he links the past
with the present while
exploring the geopolitical, economic and
cultural realities affecting the
world with humour and compassion.
Nasr works
with a range of artistic mediums including, painting, sculpture, photography and video to
