Secondary
exposure keratitis may result in corneal pigmentation and fibrosis.
Pets with flat noses and bulging eyes (brachycephalic) are predisposed to
exposure keratitis.
Dogs with prominent eyes can develop KCS, or they can develop
exposure keratitis.
Examples of dogs that develop
exposure keratitis are the Bulldog, Pug, and Boston Terrier.
Exposure keratitis is different from an eye infection or foreign body in the eye.
Pets with
exposure keratitis do not have pink eyes, blink, or squint like pets with painful or infected eyes.
